Rebecca Shares a Little Bit About Herself
Before coming to HBE I worked for a local bank for 14 years. My role there was Assistant Branch Manager, Life Insurance Agent, and Financial Consultant. I am a licensed NYS Life insurance Agent and just earned my NYS Property and Casualty License in August. I'm also a Notary Public for the state of NY.
I'm very passionate about insurance. Everyone needs it, but everyone's situation is different so it is very important to have someone who understands insurance to help our customers meet their own individual needs. Insurance is a very important part of a person's financial picture. I'm very happy to be a part of the HBE team. I have learned something new every day. The entire team is very knowledgeable and more than willing to share that knowledge with me. I have been here for 10 months and still feel like I'm on my honeymoon. It is the nicest group of people I've ever worked with.
When I'm not enjoying my new role at the HBE Group, Inc., my family and I keep busy running our long-time family leather business. I also enjoy hunting, camping and being outdoors with my husband, three daughters, and pups and grand pups.
Three Important Things Rebecca Recommends About Insurance
1) With an auto policy your limits of liability are something you should really pay attention to. In New York State, the minimum liability limits are 25/50/10. In most circumstances those limits would not only not be enough in the event of a serious accident, but those low limits can also hurt you if you are shopping for a new insurance policy. Some companies won't even accept you if your prior limits were the minimum, and in some instances as I've personally seen, if a company does accept you with those minimum prior limits the premium can be considerably higher. In the instances I've seen it was as much as $200 more!
2) Again with an auto policy - many people are hesitant to add their newly licensed young driver to their auto policy because of the increase in premium. True, this increase is unpleasant and unavoidable. However, its generally much less than having the child get their own insurance. Additionally, once the young driver does go out "on their own", if they have this history of being on their parents' policy, it will save them quite a bit of money. So , it's really in their best interest to add them as a driver on your policy. It saves them all along the way. And if you want your child to learn the responsibility of the expense, your policy does break down how much it costs to have them on the policy, so you can have them pay that portion of the premium. Also, all new drivers need to understand the impact of tickets, accidents and claims. Certainly we don't want them to get hurt or hurt others, and carelessness hurts everyone. An incident can greatly increase insurance premiums. And as always..... NEVER TEXT AND DRIVE.
3.) A policy review with your insurance agent is always a good idea. Each person has individual and unique needs. A knowledgeable agent can help you to understand your coverages and help you to make sure that you have what you need with your policies. It is free to have a policy review and is something that you should consider doing occasionally, because your needs change and what might have made sense in the past could be different now.
